This 2005 997 Carrera S came in for a tidy up and Opti-Coat. There were a few areas on the car which had been refinished at different times and though the colour match was near perfect, the refinished section behaved very differently to the original paint. Some areas here ultra-hard. Some very sticky. So I was constantly needing to adjust my pad/polish combo to match the paint surface.

This six week old Lotus Exige S is an impressive piece of kit. 3.5lt supercharged V6 and weighing in at less than 1200kg makes for a real road and track rocket!Even though it was brand new it had its fair share of paint issues. Mainly stemming from the factory sanding process as we'll see.

I hadn't worked on one of these in blue, so that's one more colour ticked off the list This was bought recently by a Vic owner as a demo model from a Sydney dealership, hence the NSW plates. As a demo it wasn't in the best condition considering it wasn't that old. Lots of swirls and buffer trails etc.

I've done a few BMW 1Ms to date but this is the first Valencia Orange one I've worked on and I am completely in love with this colour. On first glance it looks like quite a nice metallic orange, a colour somewhat fitting for the small and angry that is the 1M. With a good correction though the paint is just unbelievable. I know BMW have done some great colours (Carbon Black etc), but I never gave this colour the credit it is due.

Not too many of these in the country, this is the C6 Z06 model with a 505hp 7lt (427ci) LS7 V8. It is a lighter version of the standard C6, using aluminium instead of steel for its frame construction.

At the time of this detail this was one of only four Teslas currently in the country. All of which are currently owned by Tesla and used as demo cars. There are two in Vic and two in NSW at present.
This spec is the Model S P85. It sits at the high end of the three models that will be available here in Aus. This particular Tesla has had a few options ticked, including the panoramic sunroof, full leather, performance seats, wood trim, and what they call a "yacht floor", which is a nice accented wood trim piece that sits between the front seats and extends to the centre console just under the massive tablet display.

This GTR Nur edition was imported about four years ago. For those who aren't sure what the "Nur" designates it was a limited edition "Nurburgring" run created by Nissan at the end of the R34 cycle (circa 2002). There were 1000 made all up. 250 of those were "M Spec" motorsport editions, and the remaining 750 were "V.SpecII" editions, such as this one. They featured upgrades over and above the standard R34 GTR such as stiffer suspension, carbon fibre bonnet with duct, engine enhancements etc. This particular colour, "Millennium Jade", was only available in this version of GTR.

I never get tired of these R35s. Even if you're not a fan of the car you still have to admire the engineering and development that has gone into these.
This one is an 09 model with some mods (titanium exhaust, updated gearbox, tune etc). The condition of the paint was quite heavily oxidised and as a result there was almost no gloss to the silver

One of the first ones off the boat, this Bendigo-housed Mk 7 Golf R was picked up by its new owner in mid May. The promo pics online don't do this car justice. VW really nailed this colour in my opinion.Light marring present, as well as some holograms most likely from the dealer pre-delivery.

This is a car that was detailed over a year ago. So why detail it again after we spent so long doing it the first time I hear you ask? Well, in the fifteen months since I last detailed it the GTR has been to Adelaide and back twice, had its engine out for some more serious mods, had the front bumper updated to the current shape (now it has DRLs), plus a few other changes here and there that made it worthwhile wiping the slate clean and starting again. This time however I had a better base to work with as the Opti-Coat did a very good job of minimising swirls in this extraordinarily soft self-healing paint.
